I/O technology

-- Packaging Digest, 2/1/2008 2:00:00 AM

The TwinSAFE safety I/O technology for the North American market is a safety I/O technology that enables the transfer of safety-relevant data via multiple mediums. Since the compatible bus systems used do not contribute to or take away from safety aspects, already existing Fieldbus systems such as PROFIBUS or EtherCAT can be used. The I/O technology concept enables a wide range of safety tasks, the co. says, including structures with mixed standard and safety-relevant signals, and configuration of separate networks. The system can also be operated as a standalone solution or as a decentralized preprocessing system for safe communication with a high-level safety controller.
