GROWING AND MOVING

BASF SE expands production of the biodegradable plastic, Ecoflex®, at the company's Ludwigshafen site from the current 14,000 to 60,000 metric tons/year.

Smurfit Kappa Group closes 130,000 tons of container board capacity at its Valladolid, Spain recycled container board mill.

Sandvik Coromant adds 40 new employees, which will increase the size of its research and development department by nearly 20 percent.

Shorewood Packaging, a business of International Paper, forms a joint venture with Corporativo Cartograf S.A. de C.V., Aguascalientes, Mexico, which produces folding cartons.

BUYING AND SELLING

Applied Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. acquires K-R Automation.

Alfa S.A.B. de C.V., parent company of DAK Americas LLC, acquires the PET resins businesses of Eastman Chemical Co. in both Argentina and Mexico. They provide additional capacity of 407 million lb/year and 330 million lb/year, respectively.

Henkel acquires the Adhesives and Electronic Materials businesses from National Starch for 3.7 billion euros.

Silgan Holdings completes the acquisition of the White Cap closures business in Brazil.

Clear Lam Packaging, Inc. sells its MAP Systems Equipment Div. to OYSTAR Packaging Technologies of Davenport, IA.

Rockwell Automation, Inc. acquires Incuity Software, Inc., a privately held company that supplies enterprise manufacturing intelligence software.
