Porsche Design launches fragrance in sleek new packaging

By David Bellm -- Packaging Digest, 7/18/2008 6:22:00 PM

Porsche Design this Fall introduces a new fragrance line with a dramatic modernist package. The design, created by Porsche Design Studio, is a glacier-blue frosted glass prism bottle, contained in a brush-finish black anodized aluminum frame.

The company describes the fragrances as having “striking cold metallic accords and warm woody tones.”

According to Porsche, the light character of the fragrance is symbolized by the blue packaging, which represents “freshness and naturalness.” The company also says that the black aluminum used for the frame was created to provide contrast for the design, and it allows Porsche Design to remains true to its design vocabulary. Similar design principles are used for the case that holds the bottle. It’s a plain black cardboard prism adorned only with “Porsche Design The Essence.”

The Porsche fragrance line will include three different versions of eau de toilette; an aftershave lotion; aftershave balm; a hair and body shampoo; and two deodorants in stick and spray form.

Porsche Design products are sold in retail and franchise stores, shop-in-shops, high-end department stores, and exclusive specialist stores. The new fragrance line will go on sale in Fall 2008 at Porsche Design Stores and in Clarins Group distribution channels.
