TricorBraun packaging consultants volunteer with Habitat For Humanity
More than 270 employees from TricorBraun and representatives from their suppliers pitched in to help at 15 homes for those who have not yet recovered from the 2005 floods of Hurricane Katrina. Teams painted, insulated, roofed and worked on correcting drainage problems around the houses.

1-800-Recycling.com, an interactive nationwide website dedicated to enhancing and simplifying the consumer recycling experience, celebrated National Recycling Day (November 15th) and National Recycling Week by interviewing two of the sustainable business world’s leading lights, Ray Anderson, Founder and Chairman of Interface and author of Confessions of a Radical Industrialist; and Andrew Winston, Founder of Winston Eco-Strategies, author of the newly released Green Recovery, and co-author of Green to Gold. Chainalytics awarded Supply Chain Company of the Year
Chainalytics LLC, a supply chain consulting firm focused on enabling fact-based supply chain decisions, announced today that the Metro Atlanta Chamber has awarded them the Supply Chain Company of the Year for 2009. The award was announced during a luncheon at the 2009 Supply Chain Forum on November 17. Metro Atlanta has the fifth-largest concentration of supply chain companies and employment in the country, with more than 139,000 jobs. More than 90 percent of the top 25 service providers have operations in Atlanta.
Waste Management of Orange County unveils new recycling sort line
Business and community and environmental leaders joined executives from Waste Management of Orange County (WMOC) to unveil a new $1.7 million recycling sort line. The new sort line, located at the company’s Irvine, CA Processing and Transfer Facility, will make Orange County more sustainable by reducing landfill deposits and carbon emissions by increasing the facility’s waste diversion to 30,000 tons processed, annually, says the company.

Ball Corporation names Hayes President; Seabrook named COO, Global Packaging Operations; Morrison becomes SVP and CFO
Ball Corporation announced promotions and senior management changes that will become effective at the beginning of 2010, including that John A. Hayes will become president of Ball at that time. Hayes, who will remain chief operating officer for the corporation, also will join Ball's board of directors at the beginning of the year.
Raymond J. Seabrook will become executive vice president and chief operating officer, global packaging operations, reporting to Hayes. Scott C. Morrison will become senior vice president and chief financial officer and will remain treasurer. Morrison and Hayes will report to R. David Hoover, chairman and chief executive officer of Ball Corporation.
Graphic Packaging Holding Company Appoints New Board Member
Graphic Packaging Holding Company announced that Lynn A. Wentworth has been appointed to the Company's Board of Directors, effective November 18, 2009. Ms. Wentworth is the retired Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of BlueLinx Holdings Inc., a building products distributor, where she served from January 2007 until February 2008. Prior to joining BlueLinx, she was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for BellSouth Corporation's Communications Group and held various other positions there from 1985 until 2007. She is a certified public accountant. She serves on the boards of Cincinnati Bell, Inc. and the Community Foundation of Greater Atlanta.
Georgia-Pacific implements Infosys' Supply Chain Visibility and Collaboration Solution
Infosys Technologies Limited today announced it has signed a contract with Georgia-Pacific LLC (Georgia-Pacific), a forest and consumer products company, to implement its Supply Chain Visibility and Collaboration Suite. The project will involve deploying an Enterprise Procurement Data Warehouse that will provide standard and ad-hoc reporting, dashboard and scorecard capabilities to aid procurement professionals with a focus on contract adherence, faster time to market, and lower cost of ownership. The aim of deploying the Procurement Solution from Infosys' Supply Chain Visibility and Collaboration Suite is to reduce Georgia-Pacific's sourcing cycle time and leakages in procurement spend through better monitoring, compliance and governance mechanisms.
Patheon appoints R. Negron as VP and general manager. Puerto Rico operations
Patheon, Inc., a global provider of drug development and manufacturing services to the international pharmaceutical industry announced has named Francisco R. Negron as Vice President and general manager of its Puerto Rico operations. Mr. Negron will be based at the company's Manati site. Negron has more than 19 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Langen Packaging chooses Pilz for safety applications
Langen Packaging Inc. has partnered with Pilz Automation Safety for safety related machine guarding applications. Using multiple base units that can easily communicate with each other, Pilz hardware and software gives Langen the ability to distribute safety devices around the entire machine, says the company. The new system is said to have also aided in the reduction of manufacturing costs.
Diamond Phoenix names Paul Roy VP, Marketing and Product Management
Diamond Phoenix, a material handling systems design and integration company, has named Mr. Paul Roy Vice President, Marketing and Product Management. Paul Roy has over 15 years experience in the analysis, design, and sale of automated material handling solutions, including Vertical Carousel, Vertical Lift Module (VLM) and Horizontal Carousel technologies.

Menasha Packaging gets re-certification from American Institute of Baking
Menasha Packaging's Food Group announced that it has received re-certification from the American Institute of Baking (AIB) International for its bakery market products. For the second year in a row, Menasha's Labtrobe, PA, facility received a Superior rating, the highest awarded by AIB. Certification, which is earned through a formal, documented process similar to ISO certification, provides a high level of assurance that food-contact packaging is safe for consumers. Certification most directly impacts Menasha's Golden Lace®, SatinSeal® and WhiteTop cake circles and boards and the Sunbrite Line® of ovenable paperboard trays and folding cartons.
Printpack opens new manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China
Printpack has announced the opening of Printpack (Suzhou) Packaging Co., Ltd., the newest addition to Printpack's global manufacturing footprint. The production facility, located in Suzhou, China, will produce shelf stable thermoformed rigid plastic containers for the food packaging industry. The focus of the plant will be on supplying packaging to new and existing Printpack customers in the Asian region. The local manufacturing capabilities will enable Printpack's customers to shorten the supply chain for their packaging needs while allowing timely service support and technical advice. Additionally, Printpack's Thailand office will continue providing sales and technical support services for our internationally produced products.
Biopack updates United States sustainable-product launch strategy
Biopack Environmental Solutions Inc. is announcing updates on its expansion strategy in the growing United States sustainable packaging market. B Green Innovations files third patent for green technology intellectual property
B Green Innovations, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of I Green Innovations, Inc., announced today that it had filed a third patent for green technology intellectual property relates to products made from recycled plastic. The invention has a front cover and a back cover, the front cover and the back cover being connected to one another for opening and closing, at least one of the front cover and the back cover being, at least in part, a plurality of flattened recycled containers, and each of the plurality of flattened recycled containers being visibly recognizable.

Sonoco's Marc Ensign Recognized as a 2009 Champion of Diversity
DiversityPlus Magazine has named Marc Ensign, Sonoco's director, services/outsourcing and supplier diversity, a 2009 Champion of Diversity in its Third Annual Champions of Diversity Awards.
To identify nominees for its Champion of Diversity Awards, DiversityPlus Magazine surveyed more than 15,000 U.S. suppliers, asking them to assess corporate diversity leaders based on their company's growth in annual diversity spend, responsiveness to suppliers, new initiatives, best practices, benchmarking goals and significant accomplishments impacting diversity. An independent editorial panel then meticulously evaluated the suppliers' 83 nominees, determining that only 25 qualified as champions. Ensign and Sonoco were recognized for quadrupling the Company's diversity spend in the past five years and for finding innovative ways to use diverse suppliers in nontraditional areas.
PPG to Present Dec. 1 at 2009 Citi Basic Materials Conference

JDSU launches brand identity for holographic technology platform
JDSU has announced a new name for its holographic technology platform at the annual CARTES and IDentification exhibition held in Paris, France. Now called IconiGram, the technology includes new features that enhance the visual impact and improve the application and distribution of holograms developed for products such as bank cards and identity documents. Products that leverage the IconiGram technology platform include a hot stamp foil product (IconiGram HS), security laminates (IconiGram LM), and pressure sensitive labels and seals (IconiGram PS).
Green Toys Inc. honored with awards for 2009 holiday season

Cost Plus World Market Congratulates Jill Means of Lodi, California for Her Winning "Design a Bag" Entry
Cost Plus World Market is pleased to announce Jill Means of Lodi, California as the winner of its first "Design A Bag" contest. The World Market "Design A Bag" contest ran online from July 12, 2009 through August 31, 2009. Amateur and professional designers alike were invited to be as creative as they wanted to be using a basic tote bag design template, provided by World Market, as the starting point. The only design criteria was that the entries must contain the World Market logo to be considered and would be judged on originality, creativity, and best representation of the World Market brand.
Means's design was chosen from over 1,500 design submissions from all over the United States. Although there were many great design entries, Means's design was chosen as best representing the brand and feel of World Market. The new, limited-edition tote bag will be featured in all World Market stores on January 17, 2010.

RockTenn Receives Global "Supplier of the Year" Award from Procter & Gamble
RockTenn was named a 2009 "Supplier of the Year," P&G's highest honor in the global supplier category, in the company's annual supplier awards event November 3 recognizing the company's highest performing suppliers. RockTenn was one of only seven companies named "Supplier of the Year" among P&G's 80,000 global suppliers.
Greif adds to portfolio in Scandinavia with acquisition of Hannells
Greif, Inc., has acquired privately held Hannells Industrier AB. With operations in Scandinavia, the company manufactures plastic drums, jerricans and pails; steel drums; and intermediate bulk containers for customers primarily in the chemical, petrochemical and paint industries. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. Greif expects the earnings from the acquisition to be accretive to its 2010 fiscal year, which began Nov. 1. Approximately 240 employees work at factories in Falkenberg, Sweden; Herning, Denmark; and Fredrikstad, Norway. The sites will be placed under the Greif name.
