RockTenn announces corrugated box price increase
RockTenn announces that effective with shipments on or after February 22, 2010, it will increase corrugated box prices by 10% and corrugated sheets by 12%.

ProMat and International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Show to co-locate in 2011
Material Handling Industry of America (MHIA) and the Automation Technologies Council (ATC) announce that ProMat and The International Robots, Vision & Motion Control Show will co-locate in 2011. Both exhibitions will be held March 21-24, 2011 at Chicago 's McCormick Place. ATC is the umbrella group for Robotic Industries Association (RIA), Automated Imaging Association (AIA), and Motion Control Association (MCA).


Fraser Papers proceeds with finalizing sale of specialty papers busines

Fraser Papers Inc. announced that, following the extended deadline of January 26, 2010, it had received no additional offers to purchase the Company's specialty papers business under the court supervised sale process. As a result, Fraser Papers has terminated the Bid Process and will continue to work diligently to clear the remaining conditions and complete the firm purchase offer sponsored by the Company's secured creditors that was signed on December 22, 2009.


EskoArtwork challenges packaging professionals and students to design its Suite 10 software package

Sekuworks and Unisource Worldwide launch brand-protection-services partnership
Sekuworks, LLC has entered into a partnership agreement with Unisource Worldwide, Inc. to provide comprehensive brand protection packaging products, service and support to meet the needs of Unisource's customers. The two companies will work together to provide Unisource customers with comprehensive packaging solutions that address brand protection, package design, engineering, supply chain support and overall unit cost concerns. The partnership will provide a one-stop-shop to manage and secure a brand's packaging, the area most often targeted by counterfeiters.


Sun Chemical and Graphic Security Systems Corporation sign license agreement
Graphic Security Systems Corporation and Sun Chemical have signed a license agreement that utilizes Sun Chemical's proprietary security solutions with GSSC's technologies, expanding capabilities to authenticate branded consumer products and increase protection levels against counterfeiters.

Honeywell signs Capran Film distribution agreement with CFP Flexible Packaging
Honeywell has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with CFP Flexible Packaging, a leading European packaging company. CFP, which has more than 35 years of experience in the manufacture of bioriented and multilayer cast nylon films, will become the main distributor in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for certain Honeywell Capran nylon films.


NewPage introduces EcoPoint Plus bottle label paper with 10 percent recycled fiber

NewPage Corporation announced the introduction of EcoPoint Plus, a new high-performance bottle label paper featuring 10 percent post-consumer waste (PCW) recycled fiber. EcoPoint Plus is third-party chain-of-custody certified to the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) (BV-COC-953662), the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) schemes.

1-800-Recycling.com, an interactive nationwide Web site dedicated to enhancing and democratizing the consumer recycling experience, announced today that it has partnered with the Recycling Today Media Group to help enhance both organizations' nationwide networks of recycling resources.

Greiner Packaging and Serbian producer Jovanovic Plast founding joint venture
At the beginning of 2010, Greiner Packaging Slovenia and Jovanovic Plast d.o.o. started a joint venture. Greiner Packaging Slovenia holds 51% of the shares in the new joint venture, which will be named Greiner Packaging JP d.o.o. The company Jovanovic Plast is based in Nova Pazova about 30 kilometres from Belgrade and about 50 kilometres from Novi Sad. At present, the company employs a workforce of 95 people.


Nestle Waters North America announces new corporate headquarters
Nestle Waters North America Inc. will relocate its headquarters from Greenwich to Stamford, Conn., late in 2010. Nestle Waters, the nation's number one bottled water company, has 475 employees at its headquarters, which has been located at 777 West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich since 1979. The company intends to add 25 headquarters jobs over the next three years. Nestle Waters' new headquarters will be located at 900 Long Ridge Road, Stamford. The company will lease 164,301 square feet of space, an increase of approximately 24% from Nestle Waters' current headquarters in Greenwich. The building is owned by Oracle.


Biopack plans and continues expansion in rapidly developing Asian market
Biopack Environmental Solutions Inc. has secured follow up orders to the initial placement, first announced November 9, 2009, of its sustainable packaging products from Hong Kong based supermarket city'super. In addition to its 9 stores in Hong Kong and 3 in Taipei Taiwan, city'super recently announced it is following in the path of other international retailers, and opening its first store in China. Scheduled to be open for business May 1, 2010 in Shanghai, this "Mega Lifestyle Specialty Store" will cater to Shanghai's growing affluent population.


Quad/Graphics to acquire Worldcolor
Quad/Graphics, Inc., the largest privately held printer in the U.S., and World Color Press Inc., the second largest provider of print, digital and related services in the Americas, announced that their boards of directors unanimously have approved a definitive arrangement agreement whereby Quad/Graphics will acquire Worldcolor. The expanded Quad/Graphics will have nearly 30,000 employees serving customers in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Europe. The transaction is expected to close approximately in the summer of 2010.

Cereplast, Inc., a leading manufacturer of proprietary bio-based, sustainable plastics, announced that it has appointed Bob Williams as East Coast Regional Director, Sales and Marketing. Goss International introduces new presses for packaging printing; company teams with PacSys to market new technology
Goss International has appointed PacSys, Inc. to assist in marketing new Goss press solutions for packaging applications in North America, including new Sunday web press models featuring variable repeat capabilities. The agreement with the Connecticut based agency headed by Klaus Dietel and Mike McGuinness follows the proven adaptation of Goss Sunday web press technology for packaging printing requirements. The new Goss Sunday press models are available in narrow and wide web widths from 20 inches (510 mm) to 75 inches (1905 mm) for flexible packaging, label and folding carton applications.


P&G pharmaceutical site may be future home to yogurt manufacturing plant
Agro-Farma Incorporated (New Berlin, New York), which makes Greek-style yogurt, has set its sights on acquiring a site in Norwich, New York, to relocate headquarters and expand manufacturing capacity. The company is seeking federal grants to assist in the purchase of an 88-acre pharmaceutical research and manufacturing campus recently vacated by Procter & Gamble Company.


BioLife and OriGen to introduce biologic packaging products
BioLife Solutions, a developer of biopreservation tools for cells, tissues, and organs, and OriGen Biomedical, a provider of biologic packaging products, have reported that the companies will introduce sterile standard and custom biologic packaging products pre-filled with BioLife's serum-free, protein-free HypoThermosol cell and tissue storage/transport media and CryoStor cryopreservation media.
