Rescue Water's panel-free PET bottles offer glass-like clarity, feel

Rescue Water in panel-free PET bottles

AriZona Beverage Company's debuts Rescue Water, its new line of functional beverages, in high-tech, high-touch PET bottles supplied by Constar.

As a hot-fill beverage, Rescue Water required a bottle that can withstand the high temperatures and pressures of processing. Beverage makers have traditionally relied on six-panel vacuum bottles. Rescue Water's 20.5-oz PET bottles feature Constar's X4 technology, which results in a panel-free design imparts the robust, in-hand feel similar to glass, while optimizing performance during the hot fill and labeling processes. The high-tech geometry of bottles with Constar's X4 technology allows the vacuum required by hot-fill processing to take place in the base of the bottle, leaving the sides cylindrical, rigid and smooth. The result is a feel similar to that of glass and a bottle that runs consistently and efficiently on filling and labeling lines. It also enables simple conversions from glass to plastic bottles.

AriZona Beverage Co. is one of the first companies to commercialize X4 technology.

The monolayer bottles also include Constar's DiamondClear technology, an aggressive oxygen scavenger blended throughout the PET that aims to protect the freshness, flavor and color of the beverage inside, while giving the PET the clarity of glass. This is especially important for Rescue Water because it is made with no preservatives.

The rigid, cylindrical design further enhances the appearance of Rescue Waters. Roll-fed shrink labels utilize bright colors and simple graphics to delineate the different varieties, making it easy for consumers to identify their favorite flavor.

There are four SKUs of Rescue Water, which feature AriZona's classic green tea extract for an antioxidant boost: Berry Blend, a blend of L-Theanine, green tea extract and lemon balm extract; Lemon-Line, a blend of guarana extract, green tea extract and natural caffeine; Orange Citrus, with Alpha Lipoic acid, green tea extract, milk thistle extract, and L-Glutathione; and Pomegranate Punch, which combats free radicals with a blend of Arabinogalactin, green tea extract, and elderberry extract.

The functional beverages were formulated for AriZona Beverage Company by Twinlab laboratories to help increase the rate of fluid replacement in active people and help balance nutrient absorption into the body. Rescue Water has no artificial colors and no artificial flavors, is sweetened with Reb A, a natural sweetener that comes from Stevia plants, and has just 25 calories per 8-oz serving.

The suggested retail price of AriZona Beverage Company's Rescue Water is $1.39 to $1.89 per bottle. Its bottles are recyclable using the 1-PETE code and are BPA free.
