Packaging concepts: Shrink-sleeve label for NextFoods

NextFoods, Boulder, CO, the maker of GoodBelly probiotic products, has introduced new GoodBelly Splash, a light and refreshing probiotic grab-and-go single-serve fruit drink that can be enjoyed at any time of day. Packaged in a 10-oz bottle that sells for $2.49, the grab-and-go single-serve drink is available in three delicious flavors: blueberry acai, pomegranate blackberry and mango. GoodBelly Splash is made with organic fruit juice and contains only 70 calories per serving. It is 100 percent dairy-free, wheat-free, soy-free and vegan.
Three vibrant, exciting shrink label designs were converted and printed by Printpack Inc. (www.printpack.com) at its Fredericksburg, VA plant for Next Foods in support of the launch of GoodBelly Splash.
The full coverage, 360-deg image area of shrink sleeves, coupled with 8-color flexo printing using Printpack’s Colorpack™ technology, greatly enhanced the graphics on the labels. Printpack’s Pure Affinia™ PETG allows the film to hug the contours of the curvy shape of the bottle to produce a label that really stands out on the shelf. Colorpack™ is a prepress separation method developed to provide enhanced graphic detail and vibrant color in flexible packaging. The system is further complimented by an accurate proof to production run correlation that effectively manages color expectations.
Bottles for GoodBelly Splash, which are supplied by Carr Management Inc. (603/888-1315), are delivered to Verst Group Logistics (www.verstgroup.com), a full-service logistics company that provides warehousing, transportation, logistics and contract packaging services in 13 facilities for its customers.
Verst applies the shrink-sleeve labels to the bottles on an American Fuji Seal (www.fujisealco.com) machine and then ships the bottles to Next Foods for filling. Closures are supplied by Portola Packaging (www.portpack.com).
“If you are going to drink a fruit beverage, make sure it’s giving you all the nutritional benefit it can,” says Todd Beckman, NextFoods co-founder. “Select a drink that’s really going to work for you,” Look for GoodBelly Splash nationwide in the refrigerated section of Whole Foods Markets and other select grocers and specialty retailers nationwide.
“We just had our largest week of sales to date, and we’re expecting GoodBelly Splash to be a large part of growth for the coming year,” says director of marketing Wendy Goldner.
