Proteus launches PacXtra services focusing on design, production and placement of materials on or inside packaging

Proteus Packaging, an international supplier of paperboard packaging solutions, has launched PacXtra, a comprehensive set of solutions to support the growing use of inserts/outserts, security tags and adhesive labels among food, consumer and health care product manufacturers. In addition to designing, producing and affixing the supplemental materials, PacXtra offers sourcing of supplemental items as needed.
 
Plastics Color Corporation opens new research facility and achieves accreditation for its Illinois lab

PCC (Plastics Color Corporation) a supplier of color concentrates and additive masterbatches for the plastics industry, today opened its new customer Solutions Center, a state-of-the-art research and development facility at their campus in Asheboro, North Carolina. In addition to North Carolina and Illinois, PCC also operates a lab facility at their Nanjing, China plant.

Wellspring Capital Management acquires Jen-Coat, names Harold Bevis chairman and CEO of new holding company
Wellspring Capital Management LLC announced that it has acquired Jen-Coat, Inc. a flexible-packaging manufacturer in the food, healthcare and industrial segments, from CGW Southeast Partners.  Jen-Coat is the first subsidiary of a new holding company formed by Wellspring and industry executive Harold Bevis.  Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Pakit Inc. announces new appointments to board of directors

Pakit Inc. announced the appointment of David Honing and Robert Garnett to its Board of Directors. Mr. Honing has more than 20 years experience in the pulp and paper, recycled fiber and transportation industries in various senior management and executive roles. Mr. Garnett is a senior financial executive with more than 35 years experience in both private and publicly traded companies.

Frozen Food Foundation announces winner of inaugural Freezing Research Award
The Frozen Food Foundation, in conjunction with the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), today presented Dr. Linda J. Harris of the University of California, Davis, with the inaugural Frozen Food Foundation Freezing Research Award. The award, which recognizes individuals or organizations whose research contributes to the continued enhancement of food quality and safety through freezing, was given to Dr. Harris at the 2010 IAFP Annual Meeting in Anaheim, Calif.
