Adjustable steam tunnel

Lisa McTigue Pierce -- Packaging Digest, 1/26/2012 10:30:09 AM

Adjustable steam tunnelThe agile KST 80A-712 adjustable steam tunnel for shrink labeling and bundling operations is a dual-zone system with five rows of steam distribution tubes on each side. Each row is externally adjustable for steam volume, flow and rotary position; and regulating steam is key to ensuring consistency in pack appearance. Plus, adjustments can be made without waiting for the tunnel to cool. A proprietary nozzle positioner directs steam during the shrinking process, optimizing steam resources and keeping utility costs low. Stainless steel and made in the USA, the KST 80A operates at speeds up to 200 cpm, depending upon container shape. Containers can be filled or empty, and virtually any shape. PVC, PETG, OPS and PLA films, in gauges as thin as 30 micron, all shrink uniformly in the KST-80A, according to the manufacturer.
