Packaging Digest taps new leader

Posted by Jenni Spinner, Senior Editor -- Packaging Digest, 10/18/2012 3:42:50 PM

Lisa McTigue Pierce, Executive EditorUBM Canon announced today the promotion of Lisa McTigue Pierce to Executive Editor of Packaging Digest. Since joining two years ago as Editor, her contributions and vision have lead into a natural progression in appointing her to the leadership role. A renowned industry observer and journalist, Lisa's previous tenures include Editor-in-Chief of Food & Drug Packaging (now known as Food & Beverage Packaging) and Editorial Director of Flexible Packaging. Lisa also helped launch the Global Packaging Advisory Service in 2009 for Iconoculture, a leading consumer insights strategic advisory firm.

"I'm very pleased to have the caliber of Lisa as my partner in capturing the tremendous vitality of the packaging industry, especially as we continue our strong performance in audience engagement and client satisfaction," says Steve Everly, Brand Director. "Together, we have identified new horizons that the timing of this promotion will accelerate-expanding offerings across our range of engagement channels such as digital, events and conferences."

John Kalkowski, previously Editorial Director, is leaving the company to focus on personal initiatives. Steve Everly comments on this change; "We thank John for the five years of service dedicated to the Packaging Digest franchise and wish him the very best with future endeavors."

Lisa is active with many packaging industry trade associations, including serving as board member for the Chicago Chapter of the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) from 2000-2006, and as Group Leader for the Cataloging Group of the IoPP Sustainable Packaging Task Force. She has been selected as a judge for numerous packaging competitions, including the DuPont Awards, AmeriStar Awards and Flexible Packaging Association Achievement Awards.
