Cereplast launches Algaeplast bioplastics subsidiary
Cereplast Inc., a manufacturer of biobased, compostable and sustainable bioplastics, has launched Algaeplast Inc., The subsidiary will focus on development and manufacture of algae-based bioplastics. The company first introduced the concept in late 2009, with a target of reaching a bioplastic made from 50 percent algae bio-content. According to company representatives, Algaeplast's ultimate goal is to bring to market new polymers made from 100 percentalgae content.
Rigid Containers to open new UK facility
Rigid Containers Ltd - part of the VPK Group - has confirmed it is to open a new facility in the South West of England. The 200,000 sq ft site in Wellington, Somerset, will allow the company to serve its growing customer base in the region. Managing director Richard Coward reports the site will open as a distribution hub in April 2013.
Versatile Packagers revamps its website, online resources
Tampa, FL-based contract packaging company Versatile Packagers has launched a redesigned website, intended to improve access to its services and let visitors take advantage of online resources. "Our new website serves as a valuable resource to both potential clients and existing clients.; when it comes to packaging, a company may know exactly what they want their packaging to look like, but may not necessarily know the appropriate industry terms or types of materials available," says CEO Rick Shave.
National Frozen Food Month kicks off
The National Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Association is kicking off its annual Frozen Food Month campaign, designed to help brand owners engage consumers and encourage purchasing of frozen items. The campaign includes in-store promotions, movie tie-ins, newspaper circular ads and coupons, and product giveaways.
