PLC for data collection

-- Packaging Digest, 4/1/2006

The I/O-IPC Series 758 PLC with PC features for data collection and recipe storage comes with both a USB (x2) and a CompactFlashw (x1) interface onboard. It is capable of enhanced data sharing, including gigabyte volumes of data storage, portability and control over data syntax. The memory device formatted as file memory can hold data stored, not as raw register data, but as user-specified, formatted strings of data. As such, the data can be encrypted or stored in commonly used formats for spreadsheet or database applications. A removable storage media feature allows days, weeks or years of data to be stored in a single device that can be easily removed and replaced. Support for USB 1.1 and CompactFlash Type 1 and 2 allows users the flexibility of choosing a storage device. It also has a real-time clock feature for embedding date and time values in the data strings.
