Lotion pump offers 'Symplicity'

-- Packaging Digest, 9/1/2007

British nailcare and tanning solutions company Aspire2Beauty–U.K. has selected the Rexam Symplicity 2-mL lotion pump dispenser from Rexam Dispensing Systems (www.rexam.com) for its U.K. launch of new Aspire2tan body-care products, which complement its recently launched aspire2tan spray-tanning line. This newest Symplicity pump, with a 24/410 neck finish, is designed for personal-care products including suncare, body care, baby and children's products and bath and shower lotions. Topping a round polyethylene terephthalate bottle in a 250-mL size from M&H Plastics (www.mhplastics.com), the neutral, all-plastic pump is free of metals and elastomers, so it may be used with most advanced product formulations. Its water-resistant design preserves ingredient integrity when the bodycare products are used in wet conditions.

Ergonomic design and ease of use figure prominently with the dispenser, which distinguishes the product on the retail shelf, reports Lauren Tuxford, owner of aspire2beauty, based in Hampshire, UK. “The soft-touch actuator delivers a high-quality experience for our customers.”

The pump comprises an ethylene vinyl acetate nozzle, a polypropylene locking mechanism, a basecap and low-density polyethylene tube and a polyoxymethylene (POM) ball valve. The selection of the pump and the PET bottle were as important to Tuxford as the ingredients in the bottle. “They give our products an innovative and unique look,” Tuxford says.
