Sleek can energizes organic convenience drinks

-- Packaging Digest, 10/1/2007

Integrated BioPharma's wholly owned subsidiary, The Organic Beverage Co., has launched new flavors in the Syzmo™ organic energy drink line, targeted at the high-growth, convenience and on-premise, mainstream energy drink category. The products incorporate the international glycemic index-tested certification, bilingual English and Spanish labeling and a hip look. In addition to Syzmo's passion flavor that is currently enjoyed at retailers like Whole Foods Market, the two new flavor extensions include prickly pear and original flavors. Prickly pear offers a light-tasting prickly pear & lemon/lime flavor, accenting attributes of the agave sweetener. “At the same time as we roll out the new flavors and the glycemic index-testing certification, we wanted to give the brand an exciting new look that represents what mainstream consumers are looking for within the energy drink category,” says Jeff O'Neal, president of The Organic Beverage Co. The packaging utilizes 12-oz SLEEK-line cans from Rexam (www.rexam.com). A taller and sleeker image compared to traditional 12-oz cans, the SLEEK can has unique shelf appeal, and the smaller can diameter makes it easy to hold. Syzmo has been recognized as the first U.S. Dept. of Agriculture organic energy drink in the market and is said to be the first and only certified Glycemic-Index Tested carbonated beverage in the world.
