Be a Package Designer -- Even if You Have No Talent!
October 10, 2008

Ever toyed with the idea of becoming a package designer? Why not? – creating awesome, trendy, cool packages that are appreciated and bought by millions would surely be a gratifying process.

Okay, so you can’t combine two colors without causing retina burns to whoever sees them. And maybe the typefaces you choose for projects make everything look like an insurance form. We can’t all be amazingly talented.

Fortunately, our pals at Pringles have made it easy (yeah, I know, what’s with me and Pringles – see my post, Important Pringles Can Videos).

The company’s very cool Pop Art section of their website lets you design your own Pringles can. You choose from an array of different backgrounds, pick typefaces, write your own copy, even upload your own photos -- a very enjoyable way to dabble in the world of package design.

Or, if your more of a spectator to the world of Pringles-can design, check out their Gallery of Designs people have submitted.

Best of all, it's for a great cause. According to Brandweek, Pringles' parent company Procter & Gamble will donate $1 to the Children's Miracle Network for every can design submitted. The total donation is limited to $20,000, but that's still a lot of money and the campaign runs through June '09.
