Early computer-game packaging – the way we were

September 17, 2009

Yep. Everything becomes collectible given enough time. And that’s a good thing. Looking back and seeing how quaint things used to be in any cultural realm is always fun, not to mention revealing.

And so it is with computer games. Now computer games tend to be packaged in some pretty flashy packaging. But in the early days, it was pretty much bags and a sleeve – downright charming by today’s standards.

Here’s a nice trip back through the early days of packaging for computer games and other software. And while you’re looking, check out some of the Related Videos that show up – Apple II anyone? :-)

And while you’re at it, here’s a great history of PC game packaging that I referred to in a previous blog post on the subject. Enjoy!
