Eco-friendly Tide concept shows how malleable brands can be

Perusing around the web this afternoon I came across this great packaging design concept done by Stu Taylor, who recently graduated from North Texas and is now an intern at Pentagram in Austin. His concept for Tide Essentials, and eco-friendly Tide are featured on uber design site The Dieline.

There’s lots to like with this one. I think what impresses me the most is how well the design preserves the integrity and recognizability of the brand, despite throwing out whole slabs of elements that have been assumed to be cornerstones of the Tide brand for a half-century or so.

At the same time, I just like the look of these. With little more than typography, Taylor has created a striking looking set of packages that would surely get their share of attention on store shelves.

Take a moment to see more pics at The Dieline.
