Compostable packaging ends the world!

Frito-Lay recently discovered that its new compostable Sunchips bags comes with one minor little catch - the bags are one of the noisiest things ever to plague the earth!
Okay, okay, so that’s an exaggeration. The noisiest thing on earth? Really now.
But it must be true. I’ve got video proof with highly scientific testing. And who is the source? None other than THE WALL STREET JOURNAL.
Yep. Would I steer you wrong about something this serious? But make sure you watch the video all the way through — you’ll never take sustainable packaging (or snacking) so lightly ever again!

It is pure 'greenwash'. Compostable plastics do no good to the environment or society.
Do many people know:- (a)this packaging is neither recyclable nor addresses the littering issue, (b) If they end-up in landfill, they emit methane due to an-aerobic biodegradation, (c)the packaging film is made from PLA which is derived from corn; so they create shortage by diverting food from the table to composting ! (d) the film is much costlier as compared to conventional BOPP film.(e)The packaging consumes much more energy in its total life-cycle ( from growing corn to composting.(f) There are not enough composting facilities to take the post consumer packaging waste !
The consumers are made to pay an extra cost for the packaging so that brand owners of products like chips and confectionery can make a 'fashion statement' of being 'green', when actually it is not so.

The spin master stikes again. We in packaging and marketing have unleashed compostable cellulose films being better than landfill degradeable plastics. What is the % of composting done on American trash vs Landfill???
We need leadership and clear definition of the comp[lete supply chain.

I eat these chips while my wife and daughter are trying to watch one of their many reality shows just to piss them off!!

so use a scissors. Better yet, chip-eaters should use a treadmill.

I am so sick of all the hype for this bag. I want to know the number of bags that are actually composted. I bet it is practically none because you need an industrial compost facility not a backyard compost pile. I find the bag noise annoying but it is because of the huge compostable message on every bag that tricks consumers into purchasing it that keeps me from buying this product.

Have some bananas...
biodegradable »packaging« and way more healthier

There is no problem, all people eating the Frito's should be able to use the noise to brag about the fact that they are doing something good for the environment and be proud of it!

Here many things can become fashiondale... why not this type of noise. The big picture is that Frito Lay is working in solving a bigger and more troublesome environmental issue.

I have eaten these at work, in our breakroom, and it's true! They are so noisy! It's the crackliest bag I've ever heard. I suppose FritoLay is banking on consumers' eco-consciousness to trump any hearing sensitivity. they do have a catchy Warning label regarding their loudness. I would have to agree-Avoid eating in public!
