AmeriQual was founded in 1987, and began producing thermal-processed pouch products for the United States Department of Defense (DoD) in 1988. In 1996, AmeriQual began assembling Meals, Ready-to-Eat (MRE) and Humanitarian Daily Rations (HDR) for the DoD and continued its military product line expansion with the additions of Unitized Group Rations-A (UGR-A) in 1999, Meal Cold Weather/Long Range Patrol Rations (MCW/LRP) in 2004 and polymeric trays in 2007.
Simultaneous with the military market growth in the 1990's, AmeriQual leveraged its innovative manufacturing capabilities to produce a variety of flexible pouches, heat-sealed microwavable bowls and trays and semi-rigid double seamed plastic bowls for major branded food companies.
In 2006, AmeriQual initiated sales of an emergency ration for non-military use (APACK™ Ready Meal) and commercialized a non-thermal food preservation technology called High Pressure Processing (HPP).
In 2008, the owners of AmeriQual acquired Thermo Pac from the H.J. Heinz Company. Thermo Pac specializes in the processing, packaging, assembly and distribution of portion controlled food products.
AmeriQual has established itself at the forefront of shelf-stable food production and continues to lead the market from both a technological and cost perspective.
