PepsiCo's "super" cans
In Sunday's Super Bowl game, PepsiCo will air three new 30-second ads for its Sierra Mist lemon-lime soft drink. It also is sponsoring the halftime show, in which Prince will share the stage with the Pepsi brand and a huge can. Also, a massive TV, print and outdoor ad campaign starts this week to tout the Pepsi brand and 35 new can designs will roll out this year. "2007 is going to be one of Pepsi's all-time years," says John Sicher, publisher of the trade newsletter Beverage Digest. "There will be new products, new packaging, new advertising and a bigger presence in the Super Bowl."

Pro Mach's Mack Greene retires
Pro Mach, Inc. announces that Charles M. (Mack) Greene, President of its End-of-Line Business Unit, will retire January 31 this year. Mr. Greene, a 30-year veteran in the packaging industry, joined Pro Mach more than seven years ago with its acquisition of Orion Packaging Systems. Mr. Greene co-founded Orion in 1988 and directed its growth into a leading provider of stretch wrapping equipment and solutions. He continued to lead Orion as part of Pro Mach until 2005, when he was named President of the company's newly formed End-of-Line Business Unit, which includes Orion, Brenton Engineering, Rennco, and Wexxar Packaging. He will continue to serve as an advisor to Pro Mach.

Materials for printed electronics to grow to $7.7 billion by 2012, says new report
According to a new report from NanoMarkets, a leading industry analyst firm based here, the market for electronic inks and related substrate materials used in manufacturing printed electronics is expected to grow to $7.7 billion by 2012. The firm also notes that with several firms gearing up to enter full-scale production mode in 2007 and 2008, the printed electronics business is moving into a new and exciting phase.
