PepsiCo facility goes green, gets gold The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently recognized the Gatorade Blue Ridge facility in Wytheville, VA, with its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) designation at a Gold-level certification. Wal-Mart Canada pushes sustainability with Expo
Wal-Mart Canada hosted "Cradle to Cradle," a sustainable packaging exposition in partnership with the Packaging Association of Canada. The event, the first of its kind in Canada, hosted more than 100 Wal-Mart suppliers, and included product buyers from Wal-Mart Canada's home office. Aluminum can recycling rate hits 51.6 percent in the U.S.
The Aluminum Association, Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI) and Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) have announced statistics indicating that Americans and the aluminum industry recycled 51.9 billion aluminum cans in 2006, half a billion more than in 2005. It has the highest recycling rate of any beverage container at 51.6 percent. Read more...
