Leading competition in beauty packaging now accepting submissions

HBA Global Expo is now accepting nominations for its upcoming IPDA (International Package Design Awards) at http://www.hbaexpo.com. The IDPA awards are the only ones in the beauty industry that recognize the year’s most innovative beauty packaging throughout multiple categories which include cosmetics, fragrance, personal care, skin care and innovations in sustainability. Also acknowledged is the best in Hair Care, Sampling/Travel Size, and At-Home Devices and Tools packaging are also recognized.

IDPA is the longest running and largest packaging design awards in the beauty sector that has given awards out to not only major brands but also to independents and newcomers.

Previous IPDA winners and finalists have included Artistry, Aveda, Bath & Body Works, Benefit Cosmetics, Burberry Cosmetics, Caudalie, Coty, Five Star Fragrance, Hommage, Inter Parfums, Kate Somerville Skin Care, Lisa Hoffman Beauty, L'Oreal Paris, MAC Cosmetics, NYX Cosmetics, Olay, Physicians Formula, Pravana, Sephora, Stila, The Estee Lauder Companies, Unilever, Urban Decay, Victoria Secrets, and Yves Rocher.

Small company? No worries. There isn’t a size requirement and any company can enter a submission for its finished beauty and personal care products for its packaging design. The guidelines are that the product had to be released for retail during July 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014. Suppliers, design firms, agencies and brand manufacturers welcomed! Did your company undergo a brand refresh or get a few design tweaks? Don’t wait now – enter! Deadline is April 25, 2-14.

Companies will find out if they are a finalists for the awards in mid-May and winners will be announces on June 11, 2014 at the HBA Global Expo & Conference on June 10-12, 2014 at the Javits Center in New York where the finalists and winners will be showcased front and center on the exhibit floor during the conference.

The IPDA panel of judges is a mix of designers, packaging experts and members of the media. The submissions are critiqued on the following: originality, design concept, creative use of new materials, components and decorating processes, technical competency and effective brand messaging.
