Pharma Tech Industries (PTI), the largest pharmaceutical contract manufacturer and packager of powder products in the world, has hired management veteran Anthony (Tony) Mitchell as its new president and chief operating officer. In this position, Mitchell's overarching responsibility will be to set and further enhance PTI's business models for maximum growth potential.

Mitchell's role with PTI will be multi-faceted. In addition to helping set the company's short and long-term strategic growth plans, he will be charged with fostering skill set growth amidst the company's workforce of more than 350 specialists in two facilities. The task is especially challenging given PTI's varied production environments, which include the manufacture and packaging of Rx, OTC, medical devices, cosmetics and consumer disposables.

Mitchell joins Pharma Tech Industries during a period of growth that has seen a host of expanded and upgraded capabilities and services. PTI recently broadened its on-site testing capabilities at its Royston, GA plant by completing a new analytical laboratory for both Rx and OTC drugs. The company also is currently expanding its production facility in Union, MO. The multi-million-dollar investment will add approximately 60,000 square feet of manufacturing space, which will be used primarily for the production of ingestible powders and include a production room built to ISO8/100,000 clean room standards. The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2014.

Mitchell has more than 25 years of business management experience with a history of providing leadership and setting strategic direction for finances, accounting practices, technology and operations support functions. Prior to joining PTI, Mitchell enjoyed a 13-year tenure with Morrison Management Specialists, Inc. of Atlanta, GA. He served his final eight years as the company's chief financial officer and contributed to triple-digit revenue and profit growth, as well as the largest acquisition in the firm's history.

"As Pharma Tech Industries continues to enhance and expand its facilities, offer new services and take on newer and bigger customers, we need a dedicated business leader to help us grow strategically and effectively," says Tee Noland, chairman of Pharma Tech Industries. "Tony has a tremendous reputation for building world class organizations, and is a welcome addition to the PTI family."

Mitchell earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Kent State University, and completed two special executive business courses at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He and his wife, parents of two, reside in Fayetteville, GA, with plans to relocate near the company's new headquarters in Athens, GA.
