Chicago – Better control software is the goal. PLCopen is touting the benefits of using products from companies that are members of its organization, saying that “PLCopen member companies are committed to control software standards to improve control engineering quality and productivity.” PLCopen North America is among exhibitors at PACK EXPO 2008.
PLCopen says it helps member companies improve automation programming efficiency and productivity of control engineers. It says it is “the leading organization in the field of control programming software for industrial, and process automation, as well as motion control, providing the best solutions, benefits and information.”
Bill Lydon, director PLCopen North America, says that because the organization is focused on the IEC 61131-3 worldwide control software standard, companies that are members more easily can harmonize industrial control programming interfaces and produce rock hard control software.
Results, Lydon says, include:
-Reduced programming time;
-Faster machine startups;
-Lower lifecycle costs in developing, testing, commissioning and using control software;
-Less development time; and
-Easier system integration, upgrades and modifications.
