The open-source openPOWERLINK software package for high-speed data transfer reaches cycle times as low as 0.5 ms at high synchronicity, or 0.1 ms with co-processor support. POWERLINK was first introduced by the co. in 2001 as a protocol extension of the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard. An average of 20 daily downloads are reported since the openPOWERLINK source code was made available earlier this year.
