PacDrive intelligent servo module technology enables packaging system designs that implement consumer-product manufacturers' enterprise strategies, such as lean manufacturing, supply-chain management and product marketing initiatives. The PacDrive™ automation platform enables a collaborative, multi-vendor systems approach. The co. says by replacing conventional servo motors, drives and cabling with the modular platform, packaging systems can plug-and-play for more efficient connectivity, commissioning, changeovers and reconfiguration. With no separate drives to mount in the cabinet, electrical cabinet size and cable runs are said to be vastly reduced. One cable connects the cabinet to a series of machine-mounted distribution modules rather than two cables for each servo drive, which eliminates 31 long cable runs in a typical 16-axis packaging system. Servo module-enabled designs result in more compact footprints with reported end-user efficiencies up to 99 percent per packaging function.
