At long last, we’re seeing encouraging steps back toward normalcy. Among other positive signs stateside, we’re in the middle of a full season of Major League Baseball including the return of the All-Star Game on July 13 that signals the end of the the first half of the season.

It’s with a tip of the cap — not a bottle cap, but a baseball cap, specifically Chicago Cubs here — to that annual hallmark of Americana that led to this slideshow gallery of beverage packaging all-stars.

Readers chose the lineup by essentially casting a vote when they clicked on an article since January 1. The top vote-getters were determined via website metrics to identify the fan-favorite five that have hit it out of the packaging park. It’s a diverse list with the exception of paper bottle features, which appear twice.

The all-star lineup is presented in reverse order, with the MVP, Most Valuable Post in beverage packaging, announced at the end. Our leadoff hitter tells the unique story of a major brand closely associated with the coronavirus and how that played out on social media.
