Biodegradable plastic

Ecovio® biodegradable plastic for packaging has been formulated from 45 percent polylactic acid (PLA), a material derived from corn and developed by NatureWorks LLC, and 55 percent Ecoflex®, a petrochemical-based biodegradable material from the co. The material is scheduled to launch in Europe this spring. The plastic's applications include flexible films for carrier bags and food packaging for yogurt and other products.
