Vision Guided Robotics Market Supports Braintech’s Acquisition of SHAFI Inc.

“In August, 2008, Braintech acquired both SHAFI Inc. and SHAFI Innovation Inc. to gain established commercial relationships and to accelerate the company’s growth and expansion into multiple markets. We created a commercialization plan that we call our ‘Access & Acceleration’ Plan. Since the closing, we have gone straight out to meet with manufacturing partners, machine vision makers and system integrators, and have been gaining traction in these new markets for the company,” said Rick Weidinger, CEO Braintech. “I am cautiously optimistic about our new business developments.”

Jeff Stadler, President of Güdel, which manufacturers large robot systems for aerospace, automotive, pharmaceutical, food/packaging, glass, metal, plastics and railway industries and enjoys strong working relationships with most major robot brands e.g., ABB, KUKA, Fanuc and Motoman (www.gudel.com), noted, “We are delighted to see consolidation in the Vision Guided Robotics market, which has been so fragmented until now. It is great to see Braintech strengthening their position as vision becomes one of the key value factors for robot manufacturing.” Güdel recently expanded their Michigan office to support more and larger projects.

Daniel Reed, President HTE Inc., which is the master sales distributor for Microscan (formerly Siemens) vision products in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana (www.hte.net), noted, “Braintech’s productions incorporate exceptional science and technology. We have begun the development and promotion of RELIABOT drivers for robot brands in cooperation with Braintech. We are excited to work with them towards incorporating their science into our line of intelligent cameras.” HTE is aggressively pursuing new markets and customers for Vision Guided Robotics.

“Braintech and SHAFI have proven track records in deploying software that works robustly in the field. We are happy to see that they have combined and expect their products to produce even more quality solutions for our end users,” added Sal Awada, CEO of Spectrum Engineering Solutions (www.sesdirect.com). Spectrum routinely executes projects for Fortune 500 industrial end users, deploying entire factories with controls and vision guided robotics projects. They have recently expanded into a large new state-of-the-art facility in Warren, Mich.

Weidinger commented, “The positive feedback we have received from manufacturers, machine vision makers and system integrators is very encouraging. The support we are sharing with the public in this release are comments from the best in the business and demonstrates a sample of the quality of companies involved in machine vision and guidance–HTE, Güdel and Spectrum. We are working hard to earn everyone’s business.”
