New Torayfan TreaTear LT52 and LT72 sealant films for non-retort applications can be used to make pouches that provide an effortless, precise straight-line tear across the package every time. These PP films can be used as a drop-in sealant film for LDPE sealant web applications and are compatible with zippers, spouts and other recloseable devices. These non-retort films join the co.'s existing line of Torayfan TreaTear films for retort applications and can be as thin as 30 microns (1.2 mil). According to the co., the LT52 film's low haze provides four to five times better clarity than the traditional LDPE sealant films, making it suitable for window applications. And, the co. states, LT72 film's low seal initiation temperature makes it suitable for pouches made with BOPP laminations. Markets for TreaTear LT52 and LT72 include meat, cheese, nuts, confectionery items, granola, cookies and baking mixes.
