MeadWestvaco Corp. has expanded its pharmaceutical manufacturing Centre of Excellence, based in Hemer, Germany. The facility is at the core of the company's pharmaceutical packaging and dispensing systems manufacturing. The $7.5 million project includes expanding clean room molding and assembly capacity, and a new logistics system to control the flow of finished goods and components. According to company representatives, the expansion is intended to help meet demand based upon the business's rapid growth, especially in the preservative-free packaging area.

 

Menasha Corp. launches $6 million expansion
Menasha Corp., a packaging firm based in Neenah, WI, is investing $6 million in its packaging business in order to upgrade its graphics capabilities, and to improve its brand management services for customers. New equipment acquired includes a high-volume Heidelberg printing press, die cutters, tape applicators and other automated assembly equipment. "In today's marketplace, consumer packaged goods customers seek innovative solutions as well as support of their speed-to-market needs," says company representative James Snyder

 

Ellsworth Adhesives acquires Adhesive Methods and Technology

Ellsworth Adhesives, a distributor of adhesive products and dispensing equipment, has acquired Tennessee-based distributor Adhesive Methods and Technology. AMT specializes in industrial adhesives and dispensing equipment, According to Ellsworth Adhesives representatives, the acquisition is designed to strengthen Ellsworth Adhesives' presence throughout the mid-south and allow the company to provide enhanced service, support and infrastructure throughout the area.

 

 

Shurtape becomes IoPP benefactor
Shurtape has become a benefactor to the Institute of Packaging Professionals, joining a group of approximately 20 organizations (packagers, suppliers, converters and other service providers) that are dedicated to the function of packaging. Shurtape's contribution as a benefactor reportedly will help IoPP cultivate packaging-related educational and professional development programs.
