DuPont-Teijin Films to close Circleville, OH, plant

DuPont-Teijin Films U.S. Limited Partnership announced plans to cease operation of its polyester-film line in Circleville, Ohio. The shutdown of this unit is expected to take place Jan. 31.

A steep decline in US industrial production, intensified by inventory reductions across most supply chains, has translated into a matching downturn in polyester film demand. These conditions are likely to persist well into 2009, the company says.

"We are taking the steps necessary to ensure the continued health and competitiveness of our business," said DuPont Teijin Films President Jean-Philippe Azoulay. "We want to assure our customers that our commitment to meeting their polyester film needs has never been stronger and that we are well-positioned to continue meeting those needs in the future."
