Resin grades

In its joint venture with Archer Daniels Midland, the co. introduces three new grades of Mirel™ resins. Mirel P1001 and P1002 are for injection-molding applications and Mirel P2001 is for paper coating. P1001 is engineered to replace styrenics such as PS while P1002 replaces polyolefins such as PP. P2001 was developed as an alternative to petroleum-based paper coatings to enable the production of biodegradable, paper-coated cups and food packs. Mirel is a family of bio-based, sustainable and biodegradable, semi-crystalline natural plastics produced from renewable resources including corn sugar that provides an alternative to traditional, oil-based plastics.
