Solvent-free overwrap

Triad is a high-barrier, solvent-free overwrap that has been developed using the company’s proprietary, metallocene-based sealant chemistry. The sealant layer bonds to foil—which can be challenging—without the use of solvent or water-based materials. The extrusion-coated lamination of polyester, foil and metallocene has been engineered to generate an exceptionally strong hermetic weld seal in high-speed, chemically-sensitive, pharmaceutical applications, the co. notes. With regulatory agencies continuing to press against the use of solvent-based materials (and those containing isocyanates) in pharmaceutical applications, the structure was developed to meet these objectives without sacrificing performance. The water-based bonding agents are designed to avoid the use of solvents which may not hold up well with products that contain water or require a high bond. Triad helps address those issues by using chemically-clean bonding agents and sealant layer to offer high moisture and oxygen barrier at sealing speeds of more than 100 linear ft/min.
