Jackson’s snacks came from humble beginnings, originating in 2013 in Scott and Megan Reamer's kitchen at their home in Crested Butte, CO.
It began creating sweet potato chips as a low inflammation snack for their eldest son, Jackson, who was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disorder.
Following a $1.25 million investment from Shark Tank's Rohan Oza, Jackson's “happier, healthier snacks” have since found a passionate community of super fans and retail nationally through chains such as Whole Foods and Natural Markets as well as local co-ops.
Now the brand is ramping up with a new production facility at the headquarters location in Muskego, WI, in the heart of the Midwest. Paired with the modern facility is a modern look via a packaging refresh for the 1.5- and 5-ounce snack bags that uniquely pay tribute to the founders’ son.
"The product we're making today is the best we've ever produced—just like it was when we started with small batches in our family kitchen,” says Scott Reamer. “We’re excited for the new direction the brand is taking. The new packaging truly reflects the greatness of what's inside."

Stephanie Wysocki, Jackson’s director of marketing, provides additional details.
Our brand refresh is a celebration of our superhero, Jackson, who inspired our signature sweet potato chips made in ancestral oils — like coconut and avocado,” she tells Packaging Digest. “The objective was to create a brand identity that cuts through the noise of the cluttered snack aisle, to quickly and visually communicate the superior product inside and tell our story.”
For Jackson’s, that starts with a smile.
“Our logo redesign in the shape of a smile reinforces the positivity and happiness of the brand and was inspired by the heroic joy from the Reamer family,” Wysocki says. “We proudly believe superior snacking starts with heroic ingredients.
“To ‘up’ the fun on our packaging, ‘super oils’ flow across the package as bright flavor-cuing waves bringing the consumer naturally colorful sweet potato chips with big flavor.”
The brand’s story continues on the bag back.
Says Wysocki, “the back side of our chip bags tell the Reamer’s story with an invitation for consumers to nominate an #EverydaySuperhero of their own as a way to celebrate the goodness in life.”
New packaging line.
Rather than a refresh as with the design, the plant operations present a fresh start-up with a new bagger and associated packaging operations with familiar equipment makers that focus on one thing: a plant designed specifically for sweet potato kettle chip manufacturing and packaging.
That’s according to Mike Walz, chief operating officer, who informs Packaging Digest that “the chips are elevated to a platform above the packaging machine where seasonings are metered into a tumbling drum and then fed into a 14-head Yamato scaling system. The scales feed a TNA vertical-form-fill-seal bagger and the finished bags flow onto a rotary turntable for manual case packing. The cases are pre-formed by a Lantech case erector. From there, they're manually palletized.”
