Food show fundamentals

Worldwide Food Expo is one of this year's largest food and beverage processing and packaging events, covering more than 1 million sq ft of McCormick Place with exhibits and featuring 1,000 of the world's leading suppliers. More than 25,000 attendees from 100 countries will visit the show to learn about new technologies, trends and ideas. Worldwide Food Expo features two co-located events: AMI International Meat, Poultry & Seafood Industry Convention and Exposition and the Food, Dairy & Beverage Exposition.

A single registration badge allows entry into all exhibits and programming. A comprehensive educational program featuring plant operations workshops, global-trend general sessions and technical briefings complement the show exhibits. Information and registration for the entire trade show event can be found at

Worldwide Food Expo 2007 is sponsored by the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the American Meat Institute (AMI), and is also supported this year by the American Beverage Association (ABA), InterBev and drinktec.

Four general sessions highlight global demographic, economic and food trends, with in-depth plant operations workshops the first three days of the show designed to help plant managers cut costs and improve efficiencies.

Worldwide Food Expo will also feature more than 20 breakout sessions on topics ranging from organic labeling to sanitary design principles. In addition, the IDFA and the AMI are each offering pre-show workshops.

During general sessions—called Super Sessions— Wednesday through Friday morning, leading experts on the global economy, generational shifts and consumer eating trends will provide insights while an AMI general session Friday morning will cover global markets.

Plant managers can gain insight on improving operations with a track of Plant Operations Short Courses, and dairy processors and meat packers who attend Worldwide Food Expo on Saturday, Oct. 27, will receive free admission to the expo and a choice of educational sessions: Running a Family Business or Listeria Intervention and Control.

Show hours are 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. For more information and registration details, visit
