4 new labeling options help boost a product’s salability

Advancements in labeling—including new concepts, decorating techniques and equipment efficiencies—give brand owners more possibilities for “selling” their products to busy consumers in today’s crowded retail environment.

At Pack Expo Las Vegas (Sept. 28-30; Las Vegas), exhibitors will bring a variety of new products and solutions to the show. Here’s a preview of some of the labeling solutions that will be on display.

Dual-chamber shrink sleeve label

This new shrink sleeve label (photo above) has two compartments and is suitable for multipacking and other on-pack promotions. The chambers securely hold two products in place side-by-side, maximizing packaging billboard space and increasing shelf impact.

Short-run digital label printing

The Commercial Class 2600 Series Mini Press—launched in May for label converters, private label manufacturers and brand owners—is an out-of-the-box, roll-to-roll digital printing solution to handle the ever-growing consumer demand for short-run digital labels and packaging. Using Memjet technology, the Mini Press’s easy-to-use control software and self-predicative printhead maintenance produce high-quality labels and packages at 60 feet per minute at an industry-leading 1,600 x 1,600 dots-per-inch (dpi) print resolution. The company will also highlight its new instant order change software for the 3600 Series, providing users with the ability to change die shape on-the-fly without stopping production.

Intelligent vertical sleeve labeler

The robust, easy-to-adjust SSL-600i shrink-sleeve labeling machine is equipped with intelligent controls that provide unparalleled flexibility and dependability. It can cut and apply 180mm-long labels (PVC, PETG or OPS) at speeds up to 600 containers per minute. It handles bottle diameter of 25 to 130mm, label lengths of 25 to 300mm and label thicknesses of 25 to 80 micron. It offers a fast-change mandrel and a patented cutter box for fast, precise cuts that won’t leave jagged film ends. It uses common utility blades; other blade types for harsh environments are also available. The heavy-gauge stainless-steel cabinet has removable service doors for ease of maintenance and safety. Operators can manage operation and changeovers using the human/machine interface (HMI) and synchronized adjusters.

Cold-glue labeler

The wetLAN 110 cold-glue labeler is designed to withstand exposure to high-acid products. With a stainless steel frame, the inline wet-glue labeling system includes expanded Clean Design guarding to protect the products and to improve its cleanability. Due to its mechanical simplicity, the flexible and affordable labeler also offers easy changeover.
