Inteplast Group's Integrated Bagging Systems (IBS) Unit has acquired the medical packaging division from Uniflex Holdings, part of S. Walter Packaging Corp. The packaging division includes specimen transport bags, stat bags and other medical packaging. The acquisition brings the Speci-Gard brand name, sales and customer base into the Inteplast fold.

The new packaging division complements IBS's health care plastics and packaging initiatives. With the addition of these products, IBS can now focus on all levels of the health care market, group purchase organizations (GPOs) as well as distribution channels.

"The addition of the Speci-Gard unit is a strategic move for our company, and provides us with new opportunities," said Paul Ulrich of Inteplast Group. "This fills a void we had in our product line, and gives us the ability to better serve our customers, both existing and new."
