MOCON, Inc. opens a technical support office in Shanghai.

Rexam opens its new Innovation Center in Sussex, WI, for its global Make Up Division, a part of its growing plastics business.

Tetra Pak plans to invest €60 million in a packaging-material manufacturing plant in Hohhot, China, to support the country's growing dairy and beverage industry.

Numina group builds a new 'green' corporate headquarters in Woodridge, IL.

Xpedx begins operations at its new 68,000-sq-ft distribution/logistics center and offices in Grove City, OH.

Herrmann Ultrasonics Technology, a Herrmann Group company (world headquarters in Karlsbad, Germany), moves into a new building in Hangzhou, China.

Mr. Pak Enterprises L.L.C. relocates to Greenville, SC.

Sumitomo Machinery Corp. of America expands production operations at its facility in Corona, CA, to include the Hyponic(R) line.

Flint Group relocates its offices from Ann Arbor, MI. The administrative offices move to Plymouth, MI, and the laboratories relocate to Ypsilanti, MI.

RAANI Corp. relocates it Chicago-based international operations to a new 150,000-sq-ft facility.

BUYING AND ALLYING

Volm Companies has completed the acquisition of all assets of Columbia Packaging and Distribution, which will operate as part of Volm Companies.

Arrowhead Conveyor Corp. acquires NeXtconveyor .

Hunkar Packaging, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Hunkar Technologies Inc., acquires Joseph Labeling Systems, LLC.

TNA and Kiremko announce a strategic alliance to provide turnkey integrated solutions for complete packaging and processing for the potato snackfood industry.

Rock-Tenn Co. acquires the remaining 40-percent minority interest in GSD Packaging, LLC that it did not own, for $32 million, giving Rock-Tenn sole ownership of the company.

Econocorp, Inc. is now a stocking distributor for National Starch and Chemical's "COOL-LOK" adhesive products.

STILL IN BUSINESS

Bell-Mark Corp. is proceeding with all projects as planned, following a fire that occurred on of April 12 at the company's Dover, PA, facilities. The company's main manufacturing building remains undamaged and all critical business data is co-located off-site. The fire only affected a building that is used primarily for assembly and administrative purposes, and fortunately no one was seriously injured.

The Inst. of Packaging Professionals and the Italian Trade Commission announce the winners of the Italian Packaging Technology Awards program, which are sponsored by the Italian Trade Commission and UCIMA and is coordinated by IoPP as part of its educational program.
