A big part of shipping success involves choosing the correct package size for the contents. That’s why the way these tea towels arrived from homewares retailer Lakeland is baffling. The recipient rightfully took issue with both the packaging waste and the unnecessary space taken up on the delivery van. It’s especially interesting given that the company has smaller packaging, as shown in the left side of the picture.

Many ecommerce shipments in the US travel in pouches these days, as long as the product — like this one — doesn’t need extra cushioning protection. Right-sized packaging makes (dollars and) sense in today’s economy and Dim Weight pricing madness. Do the math.

Hi @LakelandUK this is an outrageous waste of packaging & unnecessary space it would have taken up on the delivery van
Clearly you have smaller boxes as shown on the left, although even that would be far too big for 2 packs of 2 tea towels  #PackagingFail pic.twitter.com/HxGVrx8oj2
