Atkins Day Break products

Atkins Nutritionals, Inc. introduces six new Day Break products. The new ready-to-drink, low carb breakfast shake are housed in cartons with resealable twist-off cap technology, which is a departure from previous packaging that used a peel-off seal. 

The new packaging comprises cartons, which closely resemble those of its previous packaging supplied by Tetra Pak, with a new twist-off cap.

Update: Packaging Digest has confirmed with Tetra Pak's public relations firm that the packaging is indeed being supplied by Tetra Pak. The new closure is Tetra Pak's DreamCap, and the drinks will continue to be housed in Tetra Prisma Aseptic cartons.

The DreamCap is designed to serve the needs of consumers in on-the-go environments, including walking, driving and taking public transportation. It features a high neck and an over-the-edge design for improved control of liquid flow. The packaging for Atkins' new Day Break shakes represents the first use of the DreamCap closure in the U.S. market.

In addition to the new Day Break shakes, Atkins has launched Day Break Oatmeal Squares, which contain on average 18 grams less sugar, 35 grams less net carbs and 5 grams more fiber compared to similar Quaker Instant Oatmeal products, and a Cherry Pecan Bar. 

"Fifty-four percent of consumers say they don't have enough time to eat breakfast--they want easy, grab-n-go choices that are still low in sugar and simple carbs," says Atkins CEO, Monty Sharma. "We saw this as an opportunity to offer an interesting variety of breakfast options."
