Flexible packaging provider ProAmpac announced broader availability for RP-1050, a recyclable heat-sealable overwrap material that replaces traditional film overwrap — and offers a fiber-based curbside recyclable option. Designed for bathroom tissue, paper towels, and feminine care products, it was initially launched in North America and is now also available in Europe.
The company’s commitment to global sustainability extends to local manufacturing for “multi-regional applications,” says Jim Tierney, vice president of product development for ProAmpac. The product also offers natural kraft and bleached versions, high-definition flexographic printing, and, says Tierney, “high water resistance and excellent seal characteristics designed for high-speed fin and lap seal form-fill-seal applications.”
In a recent case study involving a towel and tissue manufacturer, ProAmpac cited additional advantages:
It can run at high speeds on existing filling machines, achieving the same packing rates as plastic film.
It has high-definition flexographic printing that enhances shelf appearance and allows for vibrant colors and graphics.
It has a low-blocking formulation that prevents the overwrap from sticking, reducing scrap and downtime.
It has a standardized label that informs consumers about paper recycling.
