New Color Control Solution for imagePRESS Offered
January 29, 2014
X-Rite, which specializes in color management, measurement and communication technologies, and Canon U.S.A., Inc., a provider of digital imaging systems, today announced the immediate availability of the i1Process Control software for Canon imagePRESS digital presses. Developed exclusively for Canon by X-Rite, i1Process Control provides imagePRESS digital press customers with increased control over their color print production output.
Designed to be integrated with the Canon imagePRESS digital press technology, i1Process Control will help production print businesses maximize their color workflow. According to X-Rite, the availability of consistent color and reliable digital proofs will offer reassurance to traditional offset users who are migrating to a digital workflow.
Used in concert with the award-winning i1Pro Spectrophotometer from X-Rite, i1Process Control allows users to easily profile their displays and imagePRESS digital presses, create libraries of spot colors, and generate simulation recipes for use in DTP applications and in the Canon imagePRESS server to ensure color consistency with each print job, according to the company.
“We developed the i1Process Control software specifically for Canon imagePRESS digital presses, to provide customers with an easy-to-use integrated color management system,” said Dr. Iris Mangelschots, X-Rite’s senior vice president of sales and marketing. “From the operator’s display to the final printed output, this color management system will help ensure harmony between the print engine and color tools. Now, more than ever, imagePRESS digital press users can deliver exceptional quality thanks to a digital color printing and proofing engine that integrates easily into their existing production processes.”
Available for the Canon imagePRESS line of digital presses through the Canon imagePRESS Workflow Solutions Program, the X-Rite i1Process Control software provides color management of critical printing equipment, using L*A*B and spectral formats, says X-Rite.
“The i1Process Control software is another example of how Canon is delivering innovative solutions that combine state-of-the-art print production technology with world class partners, such as X-Rite,” said Tod Pike, senior vice president, Canon U.S.A. “Our ultimate aim is to help our customers improve their production processes, by providing them with solutions that allow them to consistently achieve and exceed what modern print buyers expect and demand.”
Canon imagePRESS digital press customers will also have the option to add an X-Rite i1iO Automated Scanning Table into their workflow. According to X-Rite, this will allow them to quickly and accurately perform hands-free measurements of color swatches and input this information into i1Process Control much sooner then they would without the use of the table.
Customers purchasing a Canon imagePRESS digital press with i1Process Control software will be able to purchase a choice of four one-on-one, interactive ‘Personal Color Trainer’ sessions with X-Rite, covering topics related to color management, i1Process Control, and Canon imagePRESS digital presses. In addition to the ‘Personal Color Trainer’ sessions, X-Rite offers a service called ‘Ask the Color Expert,’ a call center, offering post-sales support and advice from X-Rite’s own color experts.
