Faribault Foods, Minneapolis, has introduced Nutri-Squeeze certified organic juice drinks for children as part of its popular line of 10-percent-juice drink products in 200-mL (6.75 fl oz) foil-laminated, standup pouches. The pouches have a straw attached to the outside that can be removed and punched through the top of the pouch for easy consumption. Made from water, organic juice concentrate and organic cane sugar and containing no high-fructose corn syrup, the new Nutri-Squeeze product contains 35 percent fewer calories and 1/3 less sugar than conventional pouched drinks, according to Frank Lynch, Faribault's executive vp of sales and marketing. “This is a critical factor for mothers, who are very concerned about health issues,” says Lynch. “NutriSqueeze is a great way to keep kids hydrated and refreshed.” Read about the production and packaging of these stand-up pouches at Faribault's plant in Elk River, MN, in a future issue of Packaging Digest.
