Rohm and Haas, a producer of specialty chemicals, celebrated the opening of its new manufacturing facility in Gebze, Turkey, for Plastics Additives Acrylic Impact Modifier and Processing Aids.
“Taking into consideration that it is the first time that Rohm and Haas is opening a new Plastics Additives plant in 25 years, we are very happy and honored to do this in Turkey,” said Pierre Brondeau, President, COO of Rohm and Haas. “With this new facility we can focus on providing new innovative products that have the efficiency, cost and performance that will fulfill the growing market needs in Turkey.”
This new manufacturing facility has a potential capacity of 40,000 MT, to respond to the growing demand for acrylic impact modifiers and processing aids from the plastics industry in the local domestic and neighboring markets. The plastics additives that will be produced in this new facility are used in many industries like building and construction, packaging and many other industries to enhance the quality of end products.
“We are very proud of this exciting project,” said Mr. Jean-François Mayer, Rohm and Haas’ Vice President and Regional Director for Central Eastern Europe & Turkey. “Turkey is part of a strategic growth region for our company and this is yet another successful example of our ongoing commitment to the Turkish market. We believe that a significant manufacturing capacity, product offerings, and regional marketing and sales expertise will enable Rohm and Haas to bolster its leadership position in Turkey.”
Rohm and Haas selected Gebze as the location for the plant because of its transportation connections that allow excellent logistics for both the arrival of raw materials and the expedition of their products. Moreover, Gebze being already a chemical industrial estate, Rohm and Haas will be able to benefit from the available facilities.
According to Rohm and Haas, the plant will serve the Turkish market but will also be used as an export platform to both the Central and Eastern European (Poland, Russia, etc…) countries and to the Middle East.
