152102-Black_Madonna_v2.jpgSue Bee Honey and SKAR Advertising have produced Special Edition, Sue Bee branded Black Madonna Honey packaging, inspired by the Fox Searchlight Pictures feature film “The Secret Life of Bees,” now showing in theatres nationwide.

Black Madonna Honey is the brand name of honey produced by the August Boatwright family, who operates a successful bee farm and honey-making business in the movie. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Sue Monk Kidd, and portrays the touching story about the need for love, sisterhood and redemption.

Jim Powell, vice president of sales and marketing at Sue Bee Honey, commented, “The Sue Bee Black Madonna Honey packaging is unique in that it is the recognized brand of August Boatwright’s family honey-making business. The labels and other promotional elements were produced specifically for this movie and are sure to be a collector’s item.”

To further celebrate the movie and its importance to the bee keeping and honey production industry, Sue Bee, SKAR Advertising and Fox Searchlight Pictures have collaborated to produce other movie-related promotional elements, including: in-store display shippers, a national newspaper insert, “The Secret Life of Bees” Cookbook, a www.suebee.com homepage dedicated to “The Secret Life of Bees,” and in-store promotional honey bottle tags.

Todd Sanning, SKAR Advertising vice president, who worked closely with Sue Bee and Fox Searchlight to develop Special Edition Sue Bee branded “The Secret Life of Bees” promotional elements, added, “Sue Bee is the most recognized honey brand in the world, and it is only fitting that they’re once again involved in such a successful national film promotion. We’re proud to be a part of this.”

Sue Bee Black Madonna Honey packaging was designed by SKAR Advertising of Omaha, Neb., www.skar.com, and features artwork from renowned artist and philanthropist Charles Bibbs. Special Edition Sue Bee Black Madonna Honey is now available at www.suebee.com. All net proceeds from the sales of Sue Bee Black Madonna Honey go to benefit First Book, www.firstbook.org., a nonprofit organization that gives new books to children from low-income families.
