Styrene butadiene copolymer
January 29, 2014
K-Resin® XK44 SBC grade of styrene butadiene copolymer (SBC) offers an alternative in rigid packaging options, the co. says. Expanding a diverse product portfolio of styrenic polymers, the XK44 resin is described as a tough copolymer with low stress whitening in blends with other styrenics. Easy to process, it offers a low melt temperature of 350 to 425 deg F and requires no recrystallization. It's also nonhygroscopic, so it eliminates the need for drying. Suitable as a styrenic choice for medical, electronic, personal care and consumer packaging applications, K-Resin XK44 SBC boasts high clarity and can be used as a standalone resin or can be blended with other polymers. It retains its clarity and toughness when blended with crystal polystyrene or other applicable styrenics. It also has a density advantage (1.01 g/cc), which can provide an economic advantage over alternative clear polymers. Reground plastic scrap may be combined with virgin K-Resin® SBC and it's post-consumer-recyclable and is currently available worldwide.
