Winning artwork brightens 8th Continent Soymilk cartons

Beginning in December 2010, consumers of 8th Continent Soymilk across the U.S. can enjoy a little sunshine with their soy milk. Stremicks Heritage Foods is introducing new packaging for 8th Continent Soymilk's Complete Vanilla, Light Vanilla, Vanilla and Original flavors featuring original sun artwork on the carton's side panels. The suns were designed by grand prize winners of The 8th Continent Art Contest, which was conducted earlier this year.

The 8th Continent Art Contest's grand prize winners are: Rae Holcomb (Irvine, CA), Bryn Pawlik (St. Peters, MO), Lacey Rosman (DuBois, PA) and Ann Rose (Racine, WI).
• Rae Holcomb's design, featured on the Original flavor carton, uses cool shades of green and has symmetrical triangle-shaped rays centered by a blue smiling face.
• Bryn Pawlik's design, seen on the Complete Vanilla flavor carton, includes golden rays emanating from the sun's cheery, pink face.
• Ann Rose's sun design, included on the Vanilla flavor carton, features a whimsical face—with the sun winking at the viewer—highlighted with gold and red rays that create a sense of movement.
• Lacey Rosman's perfectly round sun design, which appears on the Light Vanilla flavor carton, has an expressive face surrounded by a rainbow of brightly-colored rays.

The national art contest sponsored by Stremicks Heritage Foods, manufacturer of the 8th Continent Soymilk brand, recognized Holcomb, Pawlik, Rosman and Rose, along with 96 other contest winners, by awarding $1,000 in art supplies, a total of $100,000, to their school art programs.

Lou Stremick, qwner, Stremicks Heritage Foods, says, "As a family owned and operated company, we believe in the importance of education and of self-expression. As many schools across the U.S. and in our home state of California face fewer resources for art education programs, we're excited to support our schools and promote creativity among our youth by awarding $100,000 to winners' schools as part of The 8th Continent Art Contest."

The 8th Continent Art Contest invited children and families across the U.S. to submit their sun-inspired artwork. Winners were determined by Heritage Foods judges and by the public who rated artwork via an online gallery at www.8thcontinent.com/sun.

"We're extremely proud to feature artwork from our talented youth featured on the new packaging. Each of the designs was selected based on creativity, uniqueness and how they represented a bright and sunny outlook to the new day—much like our soy milk product," Stremick adds.

The new packaging can be found wherever 8th Continent Soymilk products are sold. 8th Continent Soymilk packages featuring the contest winners will be available through spring 2011. The 8th Continent Light Chocolate, Light Original, Fat Free Vanilla and Fat Free Original flavors are still available in their current packaging.
