Called the Degradable™, a zipper said to be suitable for food and nonfood use is made of a proprietary blend of pro-oxidant catalysts and a PE copolymer. In a press-to-close configuration, it is capable of breaking down through physical or biological processes, including heat, moisture, UV light or microorganisms. The zipper reportedly requires no applicator setup.
