PMMI Announces Packaging Hall of Fame Commission

PMMI has announced the members of the 2009 Packaging Hall of Fame Commission, a group of packaging professionals who select the Packaging Hall of Fame™ inductees from the field of eligible nominees.

“The commission represents a diverse group of packaging leaders who can evaluate nominees from a variety of fields,” says Ben Miyares, Vice President of Industry Relations, PMMI, who chairs the commission. Miyares was inducted into the Packaging Hall of Fame in 2008.

The members of the 2009 Packaging Hall of Fame Commission are:

The Packaging Hall of Fame recognizes career packaging professionals for their significant contributions to the industry and packaging education. The honor, which PMMI coordinates, has been awarded annually since 1971.

Any industry professional may nominate a candidate. Eligible Packaging Hall of Fame nominees will be career packaging professionals — living or deceased — who, in the course of their packaging careers, have:

Personally advanced the science, technology and practice of packaging, Expanded packaging knowledge and understanding of packaging, and Been a remarkable volunteer leader in the packaging community To nominate an individual, use the online nomination form to describe, in 1,500 words or less, how your nominee meets the above qualifications. Nominations will be accepted on or before Aug. 3, 2009.

The 2009 Packaging Hall of Fame™ inductees will be recognized during a fund-raising awards reception at the Las Vegas Hilton on Monday, October 5, during PACK EXPO 2009 (Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas; Oct.5– 7).

Proceeds from the reception benefit college-level packaging education.
